The Brading Haven Gig Rowers, joined by 2 rowers from Yarmouth Gig Rowing Club, will take on the challenge of a 21.6-mile row along the River Thames in aid of Mountbatten next month.
The challenge on 20th September will be a true team effort, with the crew battling tides, testing their endurance, and soaking in the spectacular views of one of the UK’s most iconic rivers from East London to Richmond. Over 2,000 competitors are set to take part.
Sandie Gallard Jupp, Captain of Rowing for the Brading Haven Gig Rowers, says:
“Many of us, along with our families and friends, have experienced first-hand the extraordinary care, compassion, and support Mountbatten provides during some of life’s most difficult moments. This race is our way of giving back”.
A spokesperson for Yarmouth Gig Rowers adds:
“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Brading Haven Gig Rowers for such a meaningful challenge. Rowing is all about teamwork, and together we’re determined to raise as much as possible for Mountbatten.”
If you’re able, support the Brading Haven and Yarmouth Gig Rowers via Mountbatten Isle of Wight: Fundraise for Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
Every donation, big or small, will help Mountbatten continue their vital work: caring for patients, supporting families, and standing alongside staff across the island when they’re needed most.
