A garage and a car contained within have been badly damaged by a fire that broke out on the outskirts of Newport late last night (Monday).
Firefighters from Newport and Cowes were mobilised to a residential property on Cowes Road – the main Newport to Cowes road – at 23:15.
Crews donned 6 breathing apparatus sets and used 2 hose reels and a main jet to tackle the fire, which started in a garage attached to the side of a detached family home.
Significant damage has been caused by the blaze, with a classic car destroyed.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
