Roofer and former Shanklin football captain Iain Seabrook has raised more than £3,000 for St Catherine’s School by completing the London Marathon in a time of 5 hours and 29 minutes.
Iain has followed the example of female Shanklin footballer Lucy Berry, who raised over £600 for suicide prevention charity PAPYRUS by running the Brighton Marathon at the beginning of the month.
As captain, Iain saw Shanklin win both the Division 1 championship and the Challenge Cup before his retirement at the end of last season. He had previously played for both Newport and the Isle of Wight.
Iain had exceeded his target of £2,000 for St Catherine’s by £1,291 by midday on Tuesday. His favoured charity works with children and young people with speech, language and communication disabilities.
A man of few words, Iain’s comment after completing the marathon was simply: “I’m shattered”.
If anyone would like to donate further to Iain’s cause, his Justgiving page can be found here.
