UPDATED: Emergency services are responding to a crash on Long Lane on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Saturday).
A Ford Focus has sustained significant damage in the crash, which has blocked one side of the carriageway.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have mobilised 1 appliance from Newport Fire Station to the scene – half way between Staplers Road and Downend.
UPDATE @ 17:35 – No one has been seriously injured in the incident, which appears to have involved just the 1 vehicle.
Firefighters are on scene and are directing traffic.
UPDATE @ 18:27 – A woman has been taken to hospital – but not by ambulance.
The woman, who was travelling in the car at the time of the crash, has been taken to hospital by her next of kin in a different vehicle.
It is unknown if Police and ambulance crews arrived on scene prior to the family leaving.
The vehicle involved is not connected with the Ford Takeover event.
