The Isle of Wight Youth Trust has benefitted from funds raised during an annual Fit-a-Thon challenge, organised by Anneka Wilson Fitness. Anneka Wilson Fitness (AWF) hold regular fitness-themed fundraising events and this year they chose Isle of Wight Youth Trust as their nominated charity. For 2024 the team organised a 24-hour Fit-a-Thon where they performed 1 exercise every minute, on the minute, for 24 hours. Anneka Wilson, owner of AWF, says:
“Last year we hosted a charity event in support of my friend and fellow team member. We raised money for Breast Cancer Now. It was a huge success, so I wanted to do it again! “This time I wanted to support a local charity, so I chose The Youth Trust. Mental health is a topic I am passionate about and it is close to my heart having suffered with my mental health in childhood. I understand how important the Youth Trust’s work is in supporting young people and their families. “We had such a fun day – one exercise on the minute, every minute for 24 hours. Team members chose from a Press Up, Squat, Sit Up or Burpee, with some taking the challenge even further – one of the team completed 1000 Burpees in two hours! “We’ve raised just shy of £500 so far and I’m hoping to reach that figure as it was the goal we set ourselves. I just want to thank everyone who took part – everyone turned up with a fab attitude and a smile on their face and brought so much fun to the day”.
Jo Dare, CEO of the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, adds:
“This is such a great way to raise funds for the Isle of Wight Youth Trust, linking the benefits of movement with mental health. “We are very grateful for the support from AWF and the team who worked incredibly hard on completing the challenge. Thank you to everyone who supported them”
