Firefighters are attending a garage fire at a property in Newport this evening (Saturday).
2 appliances from Newport Fire Station are currently in attendance at Elm Grove. They responded to the scene at speed at around 18:15.
Local residents have told Island Echo that they understand the occupier of the property is restoring a classic vehicle in the garage.
Fire control have said the incident is ongoing at this stage and have been unable to provide further details.
UPDATE @ 19:04 – Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are now on scene and are said to be treating 1 casualty.
The fire has been extinguished using 2 hose reels and crews are preparing to leave the scene.
