The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is attending a fire at a residential property in Newport this afternoon (Friday).
2 appliances are on scene at Furrlongs on Pan estate, close to the junction with Manor Crescent.
1 hose reel has been run out and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have entered the building. Smoke can be seen issuing.
Island Echo is told 1 person is outside and is being treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire crews responded to the incident at just gone 14:40.
UPDATE @ 15:04 – Southern Vectis say their Route 8 and 39 buses are delayed as a result of the incident and are now diverting via Staplers Road.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – Southern Vectis buses are now running as normal.
