A kitten stuck in some wire on the roof of a 4-storey building in Cowes was rescued by firefighters earlier today (Friday). On a visit to a property in Cowes Town Centre, local business Happy Hikes Dog Walking and Pet Setting noticed that a cat they were looking after had not come in for its morning feed. Though such behaviour was not uncommon according to the owner, when the cat didn’t show at a later visit, concerns were raised. After looking in the local vicinity for the cat, it turned out that the 4-legged-feline had become tangled in some wire on a nearby 4-storey roof, after it was heard crying for help. After attempting to rescue the stranded animal themselves using smaller ladders, the Happy Hikes team called Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service who sent a single crew from Newport to the North Wight Town. Firefighters used a ladder to scale the building’s exterior before placing the frightened cat in a cat box and returning it home.
“We tried various ways of getting to the kitten but they just weren’t successful. The firefighters were so kind, professional, efficient and fearless. “We took the kitten home and whilst she was a little shaken up, she was unharmed. We gave her some food and some love and she’s okay. The owners are unbelievably grateful.”
