Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have attended a minor oven fire at a property on the outskirts of Newport this thundery Saturday evening.
2 appliances from Newport were mobilised to Whitepit Lane in Carisbrooke at just gone 18:30, alongside 2 officers.
Upon arrival it was a discovered that a small fire had developed within the oven, located in the kitchen, and had activated 2 working smoke alarms.
The occupants of the family home managed to evacuate safely before fire crews removed the charred items from the building.
The fire service has now stood down and returned to station.
