Fears that a boat was ablaze in the middle of Wootton Creek sparked an emergency response to the area earlier this evening (Monday).
Cowes RNLI lifeboat, Ryde Inshore Rescue and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team were all tasked to the scene at around 19:30. However, it was quickly established that the fire was in fact on dry land.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 1 fire appliance from Newport to investigate the situation further.
All Coastguard assets were soon stood down.
