Fire crews from Newport and Freshwater tackled a fire in the open on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Thursday).
Firefighters from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene off Whitehouse Road at around 15:20.
The fire was initially a controlled burn that spread.
Crews used 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire which was approx. 3m x 7m.
With the fire extinguished and the scene dampened down, crews stood down at around 16:15.
