Fire crews have been called to a field fire in St Helens this afternoon (Thursday).
The incident has occurred in agricultural land along Carpenters Road, with fire crews alerted to the situation just after 14:15.
Smoke can be seen billowing into the sky, whilst flames continue to engulf parts of the parcel of land.
Fire appliances from Ryde and Newport have been called to the scene and are working to extinguish the blaze with hose reel jets and beaters.
UPDATE @ 15:30 – The blaze has been extinguished and all resources have stood down from the scene.
