A takeaway delivery driver has been arrested on suspicion of a number of drugs and driving offences after Police found cocaine and cannabis in his car.
The 22-year-old male was pulled over by officers on Furlongs, Newport – close to KFC and Burger King- earlier this afternoon (Friday).
A search of the Audi estate was carried out and both cannabis and cocaine were located on the driver and in the car, leading to an immediate arrest.
A roadside drugs wipe was then carried out which resulted in the driver being further arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs. The test showed positive for both cocaine and cannabis – Class A and B drugs.
The yet-to-be-named individual was also arrested on suspicion of driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with his provisional licence.
He remains in Police custody at this time.

More bad Audi’s on the isle of Wight
Awful, I have not had any takeaways recently since new variant.
Takeaways employing delivery drivers should ensure that the drivers are properly licensed, and their vehicles are properly insured for this use. Ignorance is no excuse.
The takeaways do not employ the drivers, it is Uber Eats that employ them. A lot of Eastern European’s that have no regard for our laws!
A handy excuse to suddenly ‘not understand’ if non Brit. Always understand how to claim everything though. A selective ‘ignorance’.
That
s unfair, and false. I agreesomepeople do this and dont appear to be checked, but they're no more likely to be aneast european than an island born and bred person`or any other culture of heritage. Uber and their customers need to ensure the checks are undertaken. Many people don’t realise that they need a change to their license and insurance if they want to use their vehicle to deliver takeaway foods.
What may seem an easy way to earn pocket-money ends up costing more than what they earn.
Just more scum on the island…. the police have enough to deal with at the mo ….
Obviously not the only thing he was delivering was food.
Well done the Police after an excellent stop check.
The company who employed him should be heavily fined, and named.
Eastern European no doubt, they only drive Audi, VW or Skoda and all the “British” hand car washes are closed
What a narrow mined assumption, your an embarrassment to the island !
Take him away
Deport him, with crushed car !!!
Will they crush the car ?? A friend of mine had his car crushed, he got stopped and found out his insurance had ended a week previously ! Not a druggie or alcoholic so none of those found. Probably uses car for about 200 miles a year if that !! They collected the car and crushed it within the next few days !
The law says… The car may be destroyed if insurance is not purchased within a set time limit, which is 7 days, and the car must be collected within 14 days or it may be crushed or sold at an auction. You cannot reclaim your car if you only have a one-day insurance policy – it’s required that you have a minimum of 30 days of insurance cover to reclaim the car.
So why didn’t your friend renew his insurance and claim the car back?
If he was stopped for No Insurance the vehicle would have been siezed there and then, he would have then been reported for the offence/s and given 14 days to pay for the recovery and storage and to provide a valid insurance certificate failing to do that the vehicle would have either been auctioned or scrapped.
What a d*ck!!!!!!! If he was delivering fast food, whoever employed this idiot should be sacked. Why was this 22 year old not asked to provide his Driving Licence so they could establish if he had a full licence. Then a full check should have been completed to check for a valid MOT, Road Tax and Insurance…
Scum
I think you will find that one driver gets the clearance/approval document which they then share with their mates.
