Fairhaven Residential Home in Ryde raised £784 for bears Benji and Balu at a fundraising event on 31st August.
The brother bears have lived a life of misery in a tiny cage on the side of a restaurant in Azerbaijan. Bored, hungry and suffering from serious injuries, the bears were kept there as a novelty to attract customers.
Wildheart Animal Sanctuary in Sandown needs to raise £150,000 to build a 3,500 metre habitat for Benji and Balu, which will become their forever home.
The residential home invited friends family and staff to this event, which included a raffle tombola, barbecue, hook a duck and face painting.
Live entertainment from 2 amazing acts – Ann Abe and Just Us – performed live music and dance acts, and the event included a visit from Bobby bear.
