A Newport man will appear before magistrates next month following an alleged fail to provide incident in Arreton yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
At around 14:50, officers stopped a car driving on the A3056 through Arreton, and conducted a drug wipe procedure on the driver.
The driver was then arrested and taken back to Newport police station.
A man in his 30s from Newport was subsequently charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Island Echo readers reported seeing Police speaking to staff at Arreton Primary School but it has been confirmed that this was just to give an update on the situation.
Wilkie has been bailed to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 10th October.
