An electric vehicle charging station will be built on a prominent vacant brownfield site in Lake.
EON Drive Infrastructure UK has gained consent for a facility including 8 bays, 2 of which will be accessible, a substation, lighting columns and an access with dropped curbs behind the Merrie Gardens Farm pub in Lake.
The applicant’s agent, nineteen47, previously said the site would be the first dedicated EV charging station in the area and would support the transition towards greener transport choices.
Planners cited a ‘significant benefit’ from the introduction of electric charging points in the location.
The proposal would encourage sustainable energy use by offering a charging opportunity for electric vehicles visiting neighbouring businesses or hotels and restaurants, a decision report noted.
It said:
“Overall, the proposal is fairly low key and for a use similar to the neighbouring land uses, with soft landscaping proposed as an enhancement.
“It is therefore considered that on balance, the proposal would not cause harm to the designated heritage assets or character and context of the area.”
Lake Parish Council previously lodged a letter in support of application 26/00192/FUL, stating it would be in keeping with the longer-term development of Merrie Gardens.

More bullshit EV crap.
As it is a private company you will pay through the nose for your charge, so get a charger at home, far cheaper.
An home charger is the only answer and charge during
the night is much cheaper.
Too be honest I am thinking of ditching my EV and
buying a petrol hybrid.
Finally you’ve seen the light..don’t need hybrid another load of bollocks
