UPDATED: Police and paramedics are attending a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car at Shide this evening (Thursday).
The incident has taken place on St George’s Way between ASDA and the National garage.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service have mobilised 1 crew and an ambulance officer to the incident. 3 Police units are also on scene.
Motorists are being diverted locally as a result of the road being closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 17:51 – The motorcyclist is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by Ambulance.
1 lane of the carriageway – for traffic heading out of Newport – has now re-opened.
The scene is expected to be fully cleared shortly.
