EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO PERSON ON CLIFF EDGE

UPDATED: Police, HM Coastguard, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Bembridge RNLI are attending a concern for welfare incident at Culver Cliff tonight (Sunday).

A number of Police units are currently situated at the top of the cliff between Bembridge and Sandown alongside Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor.

An ambulance is also on scene and an unidentified helicopter – thought to be Coastguard Rescue 175 – is in the vicinity.

Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat is standing off near to Whitecliff Bay having been requested to launch at around 22:45.

Island Echo understands a person has taken up position on the cliff edge, sparking concerns for their welfare.

UPDATE @ 23:35 – The individual has been successfully talked down and is now in the care of Police and paramedics.

Other resources are now being released from the incident.
