Police, fire and ambulance crews are in attendance at a 2-car road traffic collision in the St John’s area of Ryde this morning (Friday).
The minor crash on Daniel Street, at the junction with St John’s Road, has involved a Hyundai Matrix and a Citroen Picasso.
Firefighters from Ryde and Newport, and blue light colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, are tending to the driver of the Hyundai, who remains inside the vehicle.
The incident occurred just before 09:05 and has seen multiple emergency vehicles respond out of Newport.
Traffic is heavy in the area but St John’s Road remains open in both directions.
UPDATE @ 09:35 – The female driver of the Hyundai is now out of the car and in the care of paramedics. Her dog is also with paramedics.
Damage has been caused to both vehicles, which are now expected to be recovered.

hope the dog is ok why put dogs in that situation island drivers should know better
It’s something contaminating the water, because Most island drivers are very aggressive and thick has two short planks….Expecially Van drivers and Women drivers….
Survey shows women are much better drivers then men so keep your discriminating comments to yourself twat.
Not on the island, twat……
I’ll go with the water contamination argument, especially with the amount of S**t Southern Water keep pumping into it unnecessarily! Be nice if everyone stopped paying their waste water charges (the most expensive bit) as we’re only contributing to Southern Water’s FLY TIPPING.
Full emergency response for a minor collision…….
It’s not minor, these lowlife so called drivers are potential killers…
I think twice now about taking my car out on island roads. The standard of driving has deteriorated to appalling. Drive at the speed limit and someone is tailgating within seconds. Looks like that category of idiocy in this case.
I fully agree with Paul Pelosi . I too dread driving on the island roads these days. If you are driving at the speed limit, there will be some idiotic driver at your tail irrespective of the driving conditions. As soon as that driver branches off, another one will appear out of the blue. We need intensive road safety campaign on this island
More idiots on our roads, maybe a refresher driving test is required.
Maybe a proper roads policing unit on the island is needed and not just the occasional visits from the maintain.
We do have one now, it just hasn’t got enough men or machines
Only for you!!!
If you feel like that go back to the mainland. Don’t know what you are proud of but Pride comes before a fall remember
Bet the dog wasn’t secured on the back seat.
The number of old Dorries who sit with some ridiculous rat of a dog unrestrained on their laps.
Can just imagine the coroners report. Cause of death: Suffocation due to Yorkshire Terrier stuck in windpipe where it became lodged when the passenger airbag deployed.
Not as thick as jo blogs , he can’t spell to save his life !
So a one way st just after a corner.
Thinking 10-15mph tops, rear end shunt as someone wasn’t concentrating.
Why all 3 emergency response crews?
Literally need to exchange insurance details and get on with it.
Or are they after a pay out for “whip lash”
