Red Funnel has been a long-term supporter of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust since the charity was launched in 2003 and now the 12-year relationship is being celebrated by a month long collaboration highlighting the work the Trust does taking young people in recovery from cancer sailing to help rebuild their confidence.
Over the past month, Red Funnel has made it possible to find out more about the Trust and the young people it works with on your journey across the Solent. The Trust’s magazine, Inspire, can be found in all of the Red Funnel ferry terminals and in the seat pockets on the Red Jet high-speed services.
The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust’s promotional video is to be aired on all Red Funnel and Red Jet crossings as well as digital posters featuring quotes from young people who have experienced a Trust sailing trip.
All advertising space has been kindly donated by the Red Funnel, helping to promote the impact the Trust has on young people across the country.
Red Funnel CEO, Kevin George commented:
“Red Funnel is delighted to have been able to help such a great cause over the past twelve years. During that time, Red Funnel has provided over 1,500 trips to the Isle of Wight where the Trust has a base in East Cowes. The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust makes a huge difference to the lives of the young people it works with and we will continue to proudly support these efforts.”
Founder, Dame Ellen MacArthur explained what the support means for the Trust:
“Red Funnel has been vital to facilitating our trips over the past twelve years. We cannot thank them enough for the generosity and commitment they have shown the young people we work with since the Trust first started running sailing trips on the Solent.”
Launched in 2003, the aim of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is to give young people in recovery from cancer the chance to rebuild their confidence through sailing. In its 12th year, the Trust has grown beyond every expectation into a national charity. Working with every young person Principal Treatment Centre and a growing number of Designated Units in the UK.
