Police deployed a drone in the skies above Brading Marshes last night (Friday) after a woman was seen standing by the water in suspicious circumstances.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called at 16:50 to a report of a suspicious incident on Embankment Road between St Helens and Bembridge.
It was reported that a woman was seen standing by the water in a nearby bird watching area.
Officers attended and conducted a thorough search of the location which involved the deployment of a drone by the Joint Operations Unit.
Police remained on scene until at least 19:45.
No one was located in the area.

Maybe she was bird watching in the bird watching area.
And even possibly minding her own business.
We are all being snooped on, we only have to use our phone to know that..
Hopefully she flocked off before the police arrived…
More waste of Police time, money and resources. Imagine if we all called the Police eveytime we saw someone ‘suspicious’, Island officers would be inundated with calls within seconds. Particularly in the more ‘shady’ parts of the Island.
Let’s hope she’s ok.
Lots of mental health problems currently.
Yes, lots of mental problems on the Isle of Wight. What’s new?!!
It’s not mushroom season anymore
Not true, we are all mushrooms…….
…..Kept in the dark and fed on shit.
This is getting a trifle invasive, to say the least !!!!
What is she suspicious of?
Cheating husband?
Must be up to no good. Beware of the marshes, Mr. Holmes, and stay on the road if you and Dr. Watson know what’s good for ye. A woman was seen there, not three days since, and we had the Peelers after she. Wanton ways; just being somewhere.
“Suspicious” is an odd way to phrase it.
If they are concerned for her safety then why not say that?
Just being in a public area, and a bird watching location at that, isn’t exactly suspicious in itself.
Maybe unusual would be better terminology.
Not the first time the apparition of “Constance Jane” has been seen wandering the path of her demise. The unfortunate soul fell from the last carriage of a Bembridge bound train as she lent against the unlatched door to see the Herons dive. Found the next day the report said she struck her head & drowned.
