The driver of a Renault Clio that has been rolled into a wreckage on Brading Downs is receiving hospital treatment tonight (Friday), but has escaped any serious injury.
Emergency services were called to Brading Down Road shortly before 20:50 following reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision.
Police and paramedics arrived on scene, at the S bends, to find the airbags deployed on a white Clio that had rolled off the carriageway.
Luckily, the driver was able to walk away from the incident.
The road was closed for a time but has since reopened. The car remains in-situ.

Very lucky you weren’t seriously injured? How does this happen? I travel along that road most days. Think yourself lucky whoever you are, all the signs along the road need to be adhered too, it’s a very long drop if you go off the road at certain points. Glad your ok, slow down next time?? Or maybe you now don’t have a car?
Speeding is the obvious answer
To be fair, the warning sign for the ‘hidden dip’ is totally obscured by vegetation…& The car clipped the nearside bank just as the road starts to drop….
Nothing to do with it, or we’d have a pile of cars ten metres deep.
Please report the obscured sign to Island Roads urgently by phone on 01983 822440
Island Roads are a complete waste of space.
My Father reported to Island Roads and to their Half Wit
District Steward that there is a Van parked along
a Road in Ryde with no Mot, it’s been parked along the
Road for 5 months and gets used occasionally,
and Island Roads have done nothing about it.
Island Roads could not undo a Can of drink, absolutely
useless.
Why repott anything to a bunch of Half Wits who do nothing about anything,
All I get from them, when reporting road surface problems, is: “It’s not our responsibility”!
In any case, to end up like that obviously means that due care and attention to road conditions and hazards were not observed. All drivers need to read the paint on the roads – not just the signs on posts!
The Police often say that speed was a factor in accidents
To fast, I am sure that the Hw on the island plates means Half Wits
Another idiot that’s forcing our insurance up…..
It’s an LP plate I just went passed it.
Registered in Borehamwood it would seem.
Or DL (Dopey Locals)
Caulkheads cannot drive.
It was only a matter of time until that happened seen that car driving around
Same, he was trying to race me yesterday in rush hour.
In that case the punishment (crushed car) fits the crime (driving like a twunt).
Bit of T-cut and it will be fine
We’d all love to know the speed the car was travelling at when it lost it?!?!?!?!?
Regardless of the cause of this crash thank heavens for seat belts and air bags the’re life savers.
Not for motorcyclist, cyclist, horse rider or pedestrians that these idiot drivers can easily crash into. My driving instructor suggested a metal spike on the steering wheel inchs from your face as a reminder you are driving a protential leathal weapon.
Another one that thinks they are on their video game console
No mater if it was speed. Not paying enough attention, let’s hope he’s learnt a lesson here. Next time he may not be so lucky.
I don’t think it “rolled” off
The driver of a Renault Clio that has been rolled into a wreckage ???????
Note the standard of reporting has gone down hill as fast as that car.
Reporting in proper English seems taboo these days?
Let that be a lesson learnt … speedy recovery…
Love this bit of road easily get a ton plus out of my motor along here. How you crash a car like that got only knows.Slow down you muppets before somebody gets seriously injured.
While they are in hospital perhaps they could try locating a brain.Think they probably might lose their no claims discount.
Nothing to see here.Stick that Clio on a recovery truck and drop it off at the repair shop.Brilliant people can fix anything back on the road in a couple of days like new.Sorted no probs.
Cars don’t roll by themselves unless driving too fast.
Wouldn’t happen with A.I. cars
Think this is the motor that tried to get past me last week but did not have the power as I was doing a ton plus.He needs to slow down before he seriously injures somebody.
Another old driver not up to the job
