The driver of a Renault Clio is receiving medical treatment after rolling the hatchback into a field on Brading Downs tonight (Monday).
Police and paramedics were called to Brading Downs Road at around 21:00 following reports that a car had left the carriageway and come to rest on its side in a field, amongst the hedgerow.
It’s understood the female driver has been left bloodied but has escaped any life changing or life threatening injuries.
The vehicle was travelling towards Brading at the time of the crash, which is not thought to have involved any other vehicles.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised 2 fire appliances from Newport to the scene, but the crews have arrived to find the vehicle’s ignition and headlights left on but Police and the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service no where to be seen.
A ‘Police Aware’ sticker has been placed on the vehicle, which remains in situ.

It wasn’t 9pm the accident occured. I drove past at 20.20 (I recall looking at my sta nav clock as I’d only been in the other direction shortly before to make a drop and wondered how quick that had happened) and an ambulance was on site site then and the car was in the hedge with lights on then.
