Police and paramedics are in attendance at Downend this morning (Friday) where a vehicle had flattened a traffic bollard after its driver suffered what is thought to be a medical episode at the wheel.
The incident, involving a silver Renault Clio, has taken place on the Robin Hill roundabout between Long Lane and The Downs.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 08:40.
Southern Vectis say that their Route 8 buses are diverting via Blackwater until further notice.
UPDATE @ 09:16 – Police have now closed the road.
UPDATE @ 10:09 – The road has now re-opened and Southern Vectis buses have returned to their normal route.

I’ve just been past there. I wondered how that could have happened but I didn’t want to assume anything. Thankfully no other parties got hurt and I do hope the driver of the Clio is alright and recovers well
It’s nice to read that somebody didn’t want to assume what had happened.
It doesn’t happen a lot in the comment section.
I hope that the elderly driver is ok.
