The Prime Minister, Theresa May, did indeed pay a visit to the Isle of Wight at the weekend.
No 10 has confirmed to Island Echo that Mrs May hopped across the Solent as part of a private visit unrelated to politics.
As previously reported, the PM was spotted on The Parade in Cowes at around 15:30 on Saturday afternoon. It has emerged she was accompanied by her husband, Philip, as well as a tight security team.
Unconfirmed reports suggest she may have ditched London to have lunch at the Royal Ocean Racing Club.
Locals who were enjoying the sunny weather on the north coast say Theresa May alighted from a boat at the Royal Yacht Squadron landing.
It was initially thought that a lookalike had been sighted, but that has been blown out of the water by today’s confirmation from Downing Street.
