Islanders are being warned about dense fog across the Isle of Wight this evening (Thursday) and throughout Friday, which could lead to travel disruption.
IW Met Service have issued a yellow weather warning for fog from 21:00 tonight until 10:00 on Saturday morning.
Fog patches are expected to develop in sheltered low lying valleys at first, but the fog will likely become more extensive as tonight goes on. There will be some extremely dense patches of fog by dawn which will be locally hazardous on the roads.
Friday morning will see dense fog patches away from the West, South and East Coast of the Island and although the highest risk of fog will be in the lower lying valleys and in flat open rural areas, it wont be exclusively so. The fog will gradually thin and lift throughout the morning.
Tomorrow night will see the fog rapidly reforming once again with perhaps some more widespread foggy conditions as the night progresses. Once again there will be some extremely dense fog patches in the usual prone rural locations and valleys, however, it is likely that the fog will extend beyond these areas at times which in turn may give some hazardous conditions on some of the busier roads.
Saturday morning will see the fog lift into general murky conditions as a band of rain moves in.
