The discovery of a body at a property in Ryde earlier this week is not being treated as suspicious, Police have today (Sunday) confirmed.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary say they were alerted to concerns for the welfare of a man at 15:35 on Wednesday afternoon (8th February).
Officers were deployed to an address on West Hill Road as a result.
Sadly, it has now been confirmed that Police located the body of a man in his 80s. It’s unclear whether the male was found inside or outside the property, which backs onto Simeon Street Recreation Ground.
By Wednesday night officers had taken up position outside the address and remained on scene guard throughout the night and into Thursday morning.

It wasn’t until mid-afternoon on Thursday that the man’s body was removed from the property and taken away by undertakers.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.
