Yet three easy to spot AT THE MOMENT ethnics are still not caught after assaulting girls in Newport and breaking one’s wrist.

Imagine IF that was your daughter being terrified at the hands of creatures that didn’t ought to be here

Seems our Grandparents may have been right in keeping them at arms length if this is what they do after being given a safe place to live

Need hanging then deportation of the remains

Wholly agree with these campaigns to improve safety on our roads….but illegal number plates? I think the resources we taxpayers pay for could be better used combating more serious villainy.

Why NOT illegal number plates…?? What is wrong with you ?? Let people get away with illegal number plates.. what else they getting away with ? Wrong exhaust, wrong tyres, bald tyres.. maybe… But illegal plates, is a good reason to pull a vehicle and check it and driver.. Rules and laws are there for a reason. Which believe it or not is for the protection /safety of others. If ANPR cannot read your number plate, you could be a drunk. on drugs, thief, murderer, or car could be stolen…. the list goes on.. . illegal number plates could make an oncoming driver take eyes off the road for a better look, ‘crash’ … same with the idiots that have blue lights lit on front of vehicles.. illegal.. and NOT insured.. !!

Nice one ! About time the idiots out there were caught .. keep it up … might want to look at the folk who play around with their number plates to make them into their name or most popular IOW – don’t they realise that an insurance company will use this as an excuse not to pay out.

same goes for those with blue lights lit, front of vehicle on public roads. Dangerous as makes other drivers turn and look…taking their thoughts and eyes off their travel..

It’s long overdue for the police to deal with the huge number of illegal number plates.

Why ?
It’s not as if it affects anyone’s safety

Speeding – yes,
Phone while driving – yes
Drink & Drug driving – yes
No licence, insurance or tax – yes
Insecure load – possibly (although the example given is doubtful)

Driving over width vehicles down width restricted lanes (& forcing pedestrians in a ditch) – definitely a safety issue, but not something they can be bothered with policing.

But a number plate, with an extra space,… that doesn’t stop anyone (unless you’re really thick) reading it – unlike all the above, does not affect safety !, so why waste resources on it (or is just to use it as a money makign excercise)

You are the ‘Thick’ one… you think it looks cool… ok, so does a driver coming towards you, that driver takes his mind and eyes off ‘ his’ pathway ( road) whilst he admires your number plates… hey and maybe you have blue lights lit in front of yours too.. / So whilst that drivers eyes are diverted in your direction, how would that driver see the child that just stepped off the curb… or the car that stopped in front of him.. accident, caused by YOU, even though you were on other side of road !!!!

You are the IDIOT… THINK about road safety and other road users… stop admiring yourself..

Can affect peoples safety. If an ANPR camera cannot read the plate, it won’t find that the vehicle is untaxed. If it’s untaxed it almost certainly won’t be insured and the back wheel may be ready to fall off because it almost certainly won’t have been MOT’d.

Why is it all about ‘safety’? The Police were patrolling the Island and pulling illegal vehicles and drivers. IF laws were broken then why should they be allowed to pick and choose who gets punished and who gets let off? The Police are under greater scrutiny these days and suggesting they can pick and choose what laws they enforce is an insult to the honest ones. IF the drivers want to use the excuse that it doesn’t hurt anyone then the CPS will decide whether to go to court, not the Police.

Read the post again……….mainland unit with marked, unmarked cars and motorbikes. The island doesn’t have Police bikes permanently based here. But this operation was very successful and we should be grateful that so many were caught. Hopefully! the law breakers will have learnt a lesson!!!!!????

One deserves to be taken off the road with IOW in their number plate. Why on earth would one feel that is necessary? Do they think they are big fish in a small pond, large stool in a sewer more like.

Yet they can’t find enough officers to patrol the streets at night.

Instead were persecuted on the roads while children, migrants and other undesirables roam our streets sexually abusing women sticking two fingers up at the law.

Let’s hit those targets by targing motorists instead of solving serious crimes.

Well done can’t wait for the council tax hike with all the great work they’re doing.

Yes, the real fred and in-the-loop clearly suffer from the pitifully low IQ that they want to accuse others of having if they think that dirt like that is going to be blowing out of the back of the tipper as it travels along. Haters like them who only know how to be abusive just get ignored in the end.

Anyone with more than one brain cell would know that you cover it with a tarpaulin or similar to stop it blowing out of the back and into the faces/windscreens of following traffic.

I believe you’re supposed to cover it with a tarpaulin or something if, for no other reason, than you’ll probably lose a lot of the load whilst driving along at 30 or 40 mph. Ok, not the most serious crime and I’d rather the police had a ‘Day of action’ every day, not just once a year or when ever.

There seems there are more inconsiderate drivers than I thought. How many drivers with mobile phones could use hands free /blue tooth if such an important call, as a lot of cars now have it, or do not know how to use it.

most drivers seem to be brain dead….. crawling along well below the speed limit – even if conditions are perfect…. it seems 38 in a 60 applies……… and 27 in a 40….. and 24 in a 30 seems to be the safe bet…. retest and pull over people that hold up traffic like this – it`s also an offence if any keyboard warriors care to research!

moving hazard – well below the speed limit

Well done, come back soon. There are loads of illegally spaced number plates, illegal fonts and illegal plate sizes. This may seem trivial but indicates a disregard for the law, and illegal plates are often connected to other offences. The font and layout of number plates is specified in law to enable them to be read by ANPR cameras, and speed cameras, essential for law enforcement.
Some plates are even illegally coated to defeat the cameras, they have an uneven surface and look duller than normal, see how many you can spot !
As for the use of hand held phones, an absolute NO NO – dob them in if you see them.
I agree with Booglebob, red light jumping needs a clamp down too, very common.

Not many then,at least 8/10 officers over 12hrs. That’s like one driver each every 2/3hrs !. Must be more to truck insecure load , or every Island Roads lorry would be included. I can see probably 5/6 number plates alone in an hour.

Sadly the police cannot be everywhere at the same time… I think this was a good job, warned a few drivers and caught some too.. one thing at a time…. I hope the police do this practice again and often, clear the roads of the bad, the drugged and drunk drivers. Which over time will make our roads safe again. Fed up of hearing about car crashes everyday… BAD drivers.. they do not look or care about anyone else. Would be so nice if drivers could use their indicators too…before they brake, so those in front and behind have a clue as to what is happening… so come on drivers, give us a chance !! And please, slow down and stop for RED lights.
