Eligible Island residents can now get free upgrades to make their homes more energy efficient. These upgrades are worth up to £38,000 per household and could include insulation, air source heat pumps and solar PV panels. Last year the Isle of Wight Council was among a group of 23 local authorities to successfully bid for £41.4million in Government funding. This money comes from the Home Upgrade Grant and aims to help lower-income households whose home is not very energy efficient and not heated by mains gas. Energy-saving measures could include solar panels, solid wall insulation and air source heat pumps which can cost thousands to install can be installed for free. These can go on to save households thousands of pounds in the future. Councillor Phil Jordan, council leader, said:
“Improving energy efficiency in homes is a vital issue, with energy bills a major concern for so many households, while at the same time being a key way of reducing carbon emissions on the Island.”
John Moores, from Warmer Homes, said:
“We’ve already helped many households keep warm and healthy while reducing their energy bills and improving the energy efficiency of their home. “In the last year alone, the Warmer Homes programme has installed fully funded heat pumps, solar panels and insulation that will deliver £10m in lifetime bill savings, an average annual saving of £251 per household and has abated over 50,000 tonnes of CO2.”

If anyone puts an air source heat pump near mine it will be torn down and wrecked. Too noisy for our quiet area.
If its like any other scheme you need to receive a benefit to qualify, as usual the hard working numpty who pays for these benefits they get gets absolutely sweet F.A. again.
Ha ha I hope you don’t come around my house then…. sorry but you’re such a fool your comments on anything always seem to be full of bull and hate…sad little man..
What gives you the right to inflict constant drowning noise outside of your house on to your neighbours who just want peace and quiet.?
Why don’t you put the air source heat pump in your own bedroom.? I bet you would soon get rid of it.!
My comments are truthful and full of facts. There is no bull or hate in them, a lot of people agree with what I say, but the usual 7 people always thumb me down despite probably secretly agreeing with me.
If you get upset because I want to stop the noise of a heat pump interfering with my life, then you need to take a step back and look at yourself because it is clear that you don’t mind inflicting noise on your neighbours, that is wrong and that is spiteful.
Good luck fitting an air source heat pump in an old drafty house replacing a gas heating system, going to cost thousands and not work very well, they only work in new builds not retro fitting, biggest scam going.
This is really a money making scheme for a few very wealthy company directors. Avoid.
I tried to do this but when they sent me the form on line i told them i need it sent in the post as i cant fill it in on line was then told i cant have it
