Police and paramedics are attending a crash near Shorwell this morning (Saturday).
The incident, involving a Peugeot 107, has occurred on the main road between Carisbrooke and Shorwell, which has been closed in both directions.
Emergency services responded to the scene at just before 10:55.
Southern Vectis say their Route 12 buses are delayed by around 45 minutes as a result of having to divert away from the area.
This morning’s crash is the latest in a series of road traffic collisions this week and is the 7th in the past 3 days.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that 1 person suffered minor injuries in the incident, in which a car collided with a wall.
The road has now reopened.

It is amazing how many accidents are happening at the moment, it may be the use of social.media that makes these more public but during summer months I swear these were alot less frequent….
One day someone might even collect data and publish statistics on it. Could even model it (but don’t tell Bob).
Maps of accidents already exist for the whole country.

Yes, I agree. Is it rolling 24 hour news coverage ? Or just plain bad driving ?
Maybe IE could ask the police for all the data over the past 2 years if possible,
And then turn the data into some sort of graph or pie chart maybe ?
It would make for very interesting reading.

A combination of weather and poor road surfaces going on over here. I do a fair amount of driving round the island and a lot of even the newer surfaces are slippery. The s bends down from Lynn Bottom to Arreton were lethal the other morning, and as for the combination of mud and wet in Arreton!
Careful driving doesn’t always help when people clamp themselves to your derriere, and how many keyboard warriors moan on here about slow drivers eh? Drive to the speed of the road surfaces and the surroundings and particularly watch the early morning low sun. It can catch anyone out.
Cars don’t crash themselves!…people do, if thousands of drivers use the same road without crashing, why do the idiots crash on the same road???
Stop making excuses…
You’re right. There is a film of of mud on the road exactly where this accident happened. Chalks trucks from the quarry or otherwise farmers tractors. I am not sure which.
There is definitely a lot of mud on our roads!!!!
I thought that it had to be cleared ????? By whoever is responsible?????
That combined with damp weather does make for slippy surfaces …..
Although some drivers seem to think I am driving at 40 mph plus regardless ……
Read the road ahead ……
Another one? Hope all involved are ok.
