Police have closed the main road between the villages of Godshill and Whitwell following a single vehicle road traffic collision tonight (Tuesday).
Island Echo understands a car has rolled onto its roof on Whitwell Road, between Beacon Alley and Roud Road.
The red Vauxhall Corsa is blocking the carriageway.
The incident occurred sometime around 21:00.
Motorists are being diverted locally with the road currently closed in both directions. Southern Vectis Route 3 buses are diverting via Godshill and Shanklin.
UPDATE @ 21:55 – The road is expected to re-open in due course following the recovery of the crashed vehicle.
UPDATE @ 22:40 – Whitwell Road has now re-opened in both directions.
Route 3 buses have resumed a normal (diverted) route.
