UPDATED: Police and ambulance crews are attending a road traffic collision on Forest Road on the outskirts of Newport this afternoon (Monday), which has led to the main road to Yarmouth becoming blocked.
The incident has happened at the cross roads with Betty Haunt Lane and Whitehouse Road and is thought to involve 2 vehicles.
Motorists are advised to find a suitable diversion, however Elm Lane in Calbourne is closed for emergency carriageway repairs.
Southern Vectis say the 14:45 Route 7 via Shalfleet will divert through Middle Road to Calbourne, Newbridge and pick up the normal route from the Horse & Groom pub.
UPDATE @ 15:05 – Forest Road has now re-opened in both directions, although traffic remains heavy in the area.
No one has been seriously injured in the crash, which has involved a Toyota and a Citroen.
