UPDATED: Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision on Afton Road in Freshwater this afternoon (Monday).
The road is said to be blocked in both directions as a result of the incident near to the Co-Operative store and Afton Marsh household waste and recycling centre.
Island Echo understands that just 1 vehicle is involved and has rolled over, resulting in injuries to at least 1 male.
Motorists should avoid the area, diverting via Freshwater Bay.
UPDATE @ 13:25 – The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has confirmed that 1 male is being treated by paramedics for an injury to his hand.
The silver Skoda Yeti which he was driving has come to rest on its roof.
UPDATE @ 15:15 – The scene has now been cleared and the road has re-opened.
The casualty, understood to be a man in his 80s, has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
