42-year-old Roland Tomlin has been charged with numerous offences relating to burglaries, shoplifting and assault on the Isle of Wight.
Tomlin, of Terminus Road in Cowes, has this evening been charged with 2 counts of burglary and 1 count of attempted burglary at local pubs and a restaurant, as well as shoplifting.
It is said that Tomlin entered the Bahar Tandoori and stole a till, cash to the value of £80, a printer and a Samsung tablet to the value of £1,100. He is also accused of entering the Duke of York and stealing a Hoover and some bedding to the value of £50, as well as attempting to enter the Vectis Tavern with intent to steal.
Tomlin has also been charged with 2 counts of common assault, which relate to assault on shop workers during the shoplifting offences at Sainsbury’s. It is claimed he stole at least one bottle of whisky to the value of £19.
Roland has been remanded in custody overnight to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court in the morning.
UPDATE MONDAY @ 17:25 – Roland Tomlin was today sentenced to 6 months in prison by Magistrates. He has been ordered to pay £600 in compensation to the Bahar Tandoori, the Duke of York and the Vectis Tavern.

Persistent criminals are as bad as those who do major crimes.
Therefore I suggest the jury should be used and give points out of ten for any crime.
Then, once 100 points is accrued, either in one terrible crime, or over a ten year period of lesser crimes, they swing.
That way it would be a great incentive not to keep doing minor crimes, knowing that for each you only get a minor punishment, as the points would stay with you for a decade.
no point pet – all these scenarios and strategies have been tried before. There will always be a percentage of human population that act like this, always has been, always will be.
Even look at nature- there are some creatures that simply steal the food of others, rather than hunt or forage for their own.
Containment is the only option for tomlin and society – nothing else works.

The only thing that will change tomlin is time catching up with him and he becomes too old to do it. Then he may decide to try and help others he sees following in his footsteps before they wreck a significant portion of their lives, as he has done with his.

Justices system is pathetic- we here of 6 and 12 months sentence for coughing in faces and this piece of shit gets 6 months for a built up life of crime which causes a lot of grief and possibly never worked in his pathetic life. I know coughing in someone face in current situation is awful I am only using it as a comparison for sentence purposes
he will do 11 and a half weeks in jail, however, due to lockdown and covid – it is likely that he will be released early as prisons are letting short termers and those very close to the end of their sentences out early
