Following a test event by the newly formed Cowes Film Club, based at Trinity Theatre in Cowes, organisers have confirmed that the club is now officially up and running! Close to 50 souls braved foul weather conditions to come along to Trinity Theatre to enjoy the all-time classic, ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ quite apt considering the weather! Diana Deacon, founder and driving force behind Cowes Film Club, has said:
“We thank everyone for their support of the test event, and for their enthusiasm for the concept of Cowes Film Club. We intend that CFC becomes a great showcase for the best in cinematic art and an important part of the Cowes community ongoing”.
CFC now has 3 amazing films coming up at Trinity Theatre for Season 1 of 2024:
- Wednesday, 13th March – ONE LIFE
- Thursday, 16th May – WONKA
- Thursday, 20th June – THE GREAT ESCAPER
Door and bar open at 19:00 and screening starts at 19:30. Membership for 2024 is £28 for 7 films. Non-members can purchase tickets for £8 a film. Lou Yarrow, another founding member of CFC, said:

One Life is a British drama based on the true story of Sir Nicholas Winton and his efforts to help Jewish children in German-occupied Czechoslovakia to flee to Britain just before the beginning of World War II. The film stars Anthony Hopkins as Sir Nicholas, with Johnny Flynn, Jonathan Pryce, and Helena Bonham Carter in supporting roles. At the same time as supporting the Cowes Film Club, Members will also be supporting Trinity Theatre’s roof appeal via the hire fees paid by the Film Club and bar takings.
