Cowes is all geared up to host one of the biggest ever gatherings of Royals on the Isle of Wight this week, with members of the Royal family set to be joined by international Royals such as the King and Queen of Greece, the King of Norway and the former King of Spain.
As reported by Island Echo on 18th May, a day of celebration is to be held at the Royal Yacht Squadron on Friday as part of the sailing club’s bicentenary.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Royal, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Prince Michael of Kent will be joined by King Constantine II and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece (pictured right), King Herald of Norway, former King of Spain Juan Carlos, Prince Henrik of Denmark and Prince Albert of Monaco.
A fleet review of some 180 boats is due to take place at 14:00 on Friday afternoon, followed by a church service at Holy Trinity Church at 18:00 and a beat retreat – a military ceremony – with the top Royal Marine Band at 19:15.
