Island-born Isle of Wight Council employee Sarah White has been congratulated for her efforts and achievements in supporting the farming community on the Isle of Wight.
Robyn Munt, County Chair for the Isle of Wight National Farmers Union (NFU), presented the Outram Trophy to Sarah at the awards ceremony held at The Garlic Farm on 17th November.
Sarah has been the council’s enforcement officer for animal health and welfare for 10 years and works in conjunction with the Animal and Plant Health Agency, which is an executive agency of Defra.
Chief executive Wendy Perera led the congratulations saying:
“Sarah has supported and worked hard alongside our Islands farming community to offer support, advice and guidance where needed to help achieve positive outcomes.
“Sarah’s professionalism and approachability are just some of the reasons she has won this award. Well done it was very much deserved”.
Council Karen Luccioni, Cabinet member for community protection and regulatory services said:
“Sarah has worked closely with the farming industry on the Island to help them enforce the required legislation to protect their businesses and reach the standards required by Defra.

Sarah added:
“I am passionate about this Island and its farming community; I am immensely proud to work alongside and support these valuable local businesses.
“Our Island farming food producing businesses work incredibly hard. It’s great that this award allows us to shine a light on the important work our local farming community does for the Island.
“I look forward to building on the established positive working relationships with businesses who form part of our valuable island economy”.
