The Isle of Wight Council has announced that it is to introduce a grace period for users of the key worker parking permit scheme.
As Island Echo previously reported, the scheme, which was introduced at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and allowed those designated as key workers to park for free in Council car parks, was withdrawn several days ago.
Several Islanders complained that the permits had been invalidated ‘without notice’, with some users ending up with parking fines after using them in the belief that they were still valid.
The Isle of Wight Council has subsequently announced that key workers will now benefit from a 14-day grace period lasting until the 11th July. Those who have used the permits during this time and been handed a parking ticket will be able to submit a challenge and have the fine cancelled.

We are all key workers..i suppose they mean NHS workers..probably with the best conditions of an employee on the island..and with a avg £31k a year better paid then most island workers..did i just say that….
Are you talking about the under paid, over worked, NHS staff who have been the heroes of the vaccination centres and covid jabs? Obviously you’re not one of them with this false view. Most hospitality workers are better paid!!

I was told plumbers gas fitters and electrical workers are key workers so how do we get free park as vwhen i asked over a year ago i got no reply from any emails i sent?
And like the nhs cheap travel on ferrys..cheap food at hospital..the best pension in the world..blue card for discounts on most major shops and resturants..paid sick time.. etc..
One of the best jobs, hence the lazy fill many postions, knowing once in, they are pandered too no matter how useless, lazy or slovingly they are. Fact I know several, and the tales I hear are incredible.
Some are dedicated and hard working, but sadly a huge minority now.
