UPDATED: Family and friends of missing 44-year-old Charlotte Alder are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare tonight (Wednesday).
Charlotte, from Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, has not been seen in several hours since discharging herself from St Mary’s Hospital earlier on today.
There are particular concerns for Charlotte’s welfare due to her medical condition, Epilepsy – a condition which makes Charlotte particularly vulnerable.
Tonight’s freezing tempartures are also a worry for all.
Island Echo understands that Charlotte’s phone has been left behind at the hospital and she does not have any medication or money with her.
Police are said to be searching the Shanklin area but no formal search and rescue operation has been launched as of yet. However, volunteer SAR assets are aware of the situation and ready to respond as a result of a Facebook appeal.
Charlotte is thought to be wearing hospital scrubs (pale green), a black cardigan and Ugg-style boots.
Anyone who spots this missing lady should contact Police on 101. In an emergency dial 999.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 05:00 – Coastguard Rescue helicopter 175 has been tasked to assist Police in the search for missing Charlotte Alder.
The helicopter has been conducting an aerial search of Newport and the River Medina since around 04:15.
Police on the ground are also sweeping the area but as of yet no formal appeal for information has been launched by Hampshire Constabulary.
UPDATE @ 07:00 – Hampshire Constabulary are now appealing for the public’s help in locating Charlotte Alder, also known as Charlotte Birch.
