An issue with the generator onboard Red Jet 7 has led to a number of cancellations on Red Funnel’s hi-speed service between West Cowes and Southampton this morning (Monday).
A total of 6 sailings have been cancelled this morning so far, leading to disruption for commuters.
The 05:30, 06:40 and 07:50 departures from Southampton have been lost alongside the 06:05, 07:15 and 08:25 from West Cowes.
It’s unknown at this time if any further cancellations will be made.
Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience to your journey.
UPDATE @ 12:40 – 2 further cancellations have been made due to essential maintenance being carried out on Red Jet 6. The 15:35 from Southampton and the 16:10 from Cowes have been cancelled.
At least they’ve given their apologies, so that’s alright then.
A tunnel or a bridge wouldn’t need to apologise.
Although not fully in favour, I’m also not totally against a tunnel. However, your comment doesn’t give any leeway for the outstanding quality of driving out there. Are you saying there would never be a bridge/tunnel blockage due to a crash or vehicle breakdown/fire? There will always be unforseen circumstances, no matter how people travel.
Ha ha the tunnel, straight from a motorway onto the grid locked island roads. What would possibly go wrong….

She has cut staffing to the bone ( and beyond ) and moral is non-existent.
A tunnel would rarely be shut… sadly the ferry companies do not care that people need to commute for work from the island to mainland… due to lack of jobs here. A tunnel would bring long term good employment to this Island…
A tunnel entrance would be a perfect target for the Eco Warriors to superglue themselves to.

Although by the time it got built there would be no cars (electric vehicles will have died a natural death by them owing to lack of available elctricity). Forget it being a rail service as the union will just hold it to ransom with 99% wage increase claims (I’m allowing for inflation)
