A Shanklin teenager who admitted several counts of possessing and distributing indecent images of children has been handed a community order.
Jamie O’Neil, 19, of Culver Road, previously admitted 3x possession of a photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child and 3x distribute an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court back on 23rd July.
In O’Neil’s possession were a total of 159x Category A images, 324x Category B images and 428x Category C images, the court heard. The offences occurred between 27th April – 15th July 2022. Back in July, O’Neil saw his case adjourned so that a pre-sentence report could be compiled.
At the sentencing hearing last week (18th October) His Honour Judge Ashworth KC handed O’Neil a 24-month community order with 35 rehabilitation days and 150 hours of unpaid work attached.
The 19-year-old was handed a 5-year notification requirement and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO)
