Just when you thought the Spring had sprung, the cold nights are set to return with gritters to be deployed across the Isle of Wight overnight.
Island Roads says that the decision has been taken to treat the usual roads and bridge decks at both Stag Lane and Foxes Road in Newport.
Gritters will mobilise at 02:00 tomorrow morning (Saturday).
According to local forecasters IW Met Service, tonight will see broken cloud and clear spells leading to a frost across most parts of the Island, although perhaps less likely along Solent facing coasts. Temperatures are expected to be between -1c to 1c, however a few sheltered parts of the West Wight may fall as low as -2c. The temperature will be closer to 2c or 3c in the far north and northeast.
Saturday will be a mainly bright and sunny day with some patchy cloud, but it will feel rather cold with an easterly breeze.
Motorists are being urged to drive according to the road conditions.
