Coastguard officers from The Needles and Newport have attended the waters edge in Cowes to rendezvous with a yacht after it started taking on water near East Cowes this afternoon (Saturday).
Solent Coastguard tasked the already-afloat Gosport Lifeboat to locate the yacht situated in Osborne Bay and establish a tow. Once a tow was in place the casualty vessel – which had 1 person on board – was taken into Cowes and met by the Coastguard officers.
The vessel is now under the care of Cowes Harbour Master.
This latest incident comes just hours after a boat sunk at Trinity Landing in Cowes – believed to be the same boat that began sinking on the Solent at the beginning of the month.
