The discovery of clothes on the beach at Sandown has prompted a search to be launched involving HM Coastguard, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and the Police.
Coastguard Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor are currently searching the shore at Sandown having been mobilised to the scene at around 12:40.
Sandown Lifeboat has also been launched to assist with the search and rescue operation, with the independent lifeboat tasked at 13:40.
Hampshire Constabulary also has a presence in The Bay and officers are working with their emergency service colleagues.
UPDATE @ 15:25 – The search – which has stretched from Yaverland to Sandown Pier – has now been stood down.
Nothing further has been found.
Bembridge CRT and Ventnor CRT are both returning to station having concluded their search.
Sandown Lifeboat has also been re-housed.
