A Ventnor nursery has been graded inadequate in all areas, including safeguarding, following a recent visit from Ofsted inspectors.
Ventnor Community Early Years, of Trinity Road, has been slammed by Ofsted following their visit on 28th June.
The centre has been graded as inadequate all areas inclduing quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
In their report, the inspector said:
“The children’s well-being is compromised in the setting and that they spend long periods of time with no interaction from staff. For example, children stand alone for some time staring out of a window.”
Back in 2015, the centre received outstanding in all areas when graded by inspectors, but it has not been visited in the 7 years since.
Elsewhere in the report, Ofsted said:
“Staff fail to prioritise making sure children are safe and their needs met. They are not consistent in supporting children to understand behavioural expectations. For example, children run into hallways and begin to push each other, while staff busy themselves elsewhere instead of managing this.”
The inspection also found that ‘children are bored’ and that ‘children’s communication and language development is poor’ with staff not talking back and forth to them.
The centre, which specialises in the care of pre-schoolers aged 0-5, has also recently advertised 2 jobs, with them looking for both a baby & toddler childcare practitioner and a pre-school SEN assistant.
Ventnor Community Early Years has been approached for a statement.
