The Isle of Wight Council is inviting organisations to a suppliers’ day to learn more about setting up an electric vehicle hire scheme (EVH).
In total, £36,000 has been allocated from the Local Sustainable Transport Fund for the scheme which must be aimed primarily at visitors to the Island.
It is anticipated the opportunity will be of interest to companies looking at diversifying their existing hire businesses or to accommodation providers wanting to make electric vehicles available to their guests as well as port and ferry operators and groups with an interest in low carbon transport.
The suppliers’ day will be held at Newport’s Riverside Centre at 10:00 on Wednesday 15th April. Numbers are limited to three per organisation.
The suppliers day is a chance for interested organisations to hear more about the project. It is also an opportunity to meet other interested parties as they may want to look into establishing a consortium or partnership to deliver the EVH.
More information about the suppliers’ day is available online at www.iwight.com/evhire. It is recommended anyone interested in attending should register, which can be done via the weblink and using the ‘contact’ tab.
