CELL FIRE TACKLED BEHIND THE BARS OF PARKHURST PRISON

Reports of a fire within a cell at HMP Isle of Wight led to the mobilisation of 6 fire appliances earlier this afternoon (Tuesday). Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the small fire at Parkhurst at 13:20. 2 appliances from Newport, and a tactical officer, arrived on scene ahead of other resources, with the incident quickly scaled back. Other fire engines were stood down en-route and the incident’s stop message was delivered by 13:34. No injuries have been reported.
