UPDATED: A car has rolled onto its side on Medina Way in Newport this afternoon (Tuesday), prompting a response from all 3 emergency services.
Traffic is reported to be heavy on the southbound carriageway as a result of the 2-vehicle road traffic collision. Police, fire and ambulance crews are all on scene.
Island Echo understands the vehicle has been rolled back onto all 4 wheels. It remains unclear what injuries, if any, have been sustained.
Medina Way has been closed southbound from St Mary’s Roundabout. Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
UPDATE @ 15:06 – A total of 3 people have been conveyed the short distance to St Mary’s Hospital, however they are not thought to have sustained any serious injuries.
The scene has now been cleared and the dual carriageway has re-opened in both directions. Traffic is still extremely heavy in the area with significant delays of 20-30 minutes.
The collision was between a Citoren and a Mercedes.
