UPDATED: Motorists are facing delays between Newport and Sandown this morning (Saturday) due to a road traffic collision at Arreton.
Island Echo understands a car – thought to be a Honda Civic – and a coach have been involved in the crash on Main Street.
Energency services are on scene having been alerted to the incident at around 09:30.
UPDATE @ 10:08 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service on now on scene, with 3 crews from Newport and 1 crew from Shanklin working to extricate a female occupant from the vehicle.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are also on scene.
The road has now been closed in both directions between Downend and Watery Lane with traffic being diverted locally.
UPDATE @ 10:38 – A female occupant of the Honda Civic is being conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.
Emergency services have now stood down from the incident, although Police remain on scene whilst the vehicle is recovered.
The coach has been able to leave the scene under its own power.
UPDATE – The road has now been cleared and has re-opened in both directions.
