2 vehicles have been involved in a road traffic collision on Hunnyhill in Newport this afternoon (Saturday).
The road is blocked as a result of the crash, which is said to involve a Ford and a Citroen.
Island Echo is told that one vehicle has driven into the driver’s side of another around half way up the hill.
Southern Vectis say that their Route 1 buses will divert from Town Gate to St Mary’s using the dual carriageway until the incident has been cleared. The bus operator is currently unable to serve Hunnyhill stops.
No one has been seriously injured.
UPDATE – The scene has now been cleared and the road re-opened.

Another one! Ridiculous..
You cannot make it up………
I Was there!!! 30mph for a reason. This road is often used as a race course!!!
It sounds like a deliberate action to me, if they were travelling in the same direction and the other car smashed into the drivers side.
They were coming from a junction onto Hunnyhill
Heart attack, stroke, black-out, bee, wasp, spider, child running out into the road, avoiding another road user? Who knows? The list could be endless
The only good thing is that with all these crashes there won’t be many cars on the island
CRAMP N THE FOOT….
The Car-owner virus is on the increase again
Forget signs at the ferry terminals saying visitors not wanted due to Covid-19.
We will need signs warning any visitors of Island Drivers.
